Quote 22 Aug 530 notes
Rock ‘n’ roll got its deserved hero. When Jack White stepped up and was like. ‘Watch me devastate your entire fucking industry and all of your expectations of rock with a plastic guitar,’ and his pal on the drums, and literally release records without bass, with beautifully out-of-tune but seriously correct parts. And on analogue equipment with a guy that basically kinda went, ‘Hey, guess what? CDs are over.’ Just at the helm of that. CDs are fucked and everyone is stealing the records on computers. It was like watching everybody in the music industry get what they deserve at the hands of this guy out of Detroit who’s seriously, seriously consumed the power of the mythological shit from Led Zeppelin and the blues elements. I mean think about that rock ‘n’ roll starts with the blues, and the real industrial part of music dies with the blues—with a fucking blues champion. Like all of a sudden here’s this hero and you can’t manufacture what that is … like really you can’t. That’s the sickest story ever.
— Ryan Adams, on Jack White Uncut (2014)

Uncut always has some of THE BEST Jack White stuff.

THIRD MAN RECORDS PRESENTS…

OLIVIA JEAN BATHTUB LOVE KILLINGS

Third Man Records is proud to present and exciting new full length album from our favorite Third Man chanteuse… Olivia Jean!

Bathtub Love Killings  is the debut solo LP from Olivia Jean, the multi-instrumentalist who cut her teeth in the Third Man stable backing folks as varied as Karen Elson, Wanda Jackson and Jack White in addition to fronting the much-loved Black Belles. Jean has accrued a lifetime of experience in a few short years, from highlight performances on The Colbert Report, Conan, Late Show With David Letterman and The Grand Old Opry stage to having one of her songs used as the theme for the television series Elvira’s Movie Macabre.

Produced by Jack White, Bathtub Love Killings showcases Jean as a songwriting force to be reckoned with. Playing damn-near every instrument she could get her hands on, the result is a well-rounded, catchy record that’s chock-a-block full of ear worm moments.

Bathtub Love Killings will be available everywhere on LP, CD and digital on October 14th. A limited edition lavender colored vinyl version will also be available via Third Man Records.

For more about Olivia Jean and Bathtub Love Killings check out this humdinger of a video, listen to this song sampler, and make sure you follow Olivia on Tumblr & Instagram!

Text 20 Aug 17 notes I WAS ON THE COVER OF ROLLING STONE (ALMOST)

depechemodelover:

A Month ago Jack White was featured on the cover of Rolling Stone, and they rented some statues from my yard for the shoot here in Nashville.  Well they did not use the photos with the Madonnas, but the DID  use use what I gave them free, they stapled the ivy they tore off my house to the tree next to Jack on the cover.  My closest ever to being on the cover of Rolling Stone.

Haha! I had to reblog this. Too cute. This is a magazine blog… a Jack White magazine blog… and this post was made for my blog.

Text 18 Aug 7 notes Back in… J-ack…? Hm… I tried.

I’m finally (and officially) returning to Tumblr. I’ve been home for 2 1/2 weeks but, I’ll admit, seeing Jack in Detroit left me quite “fulfilled” in this area, for a while. A former small prairie town Canadian girl in the “D”. People constantly seemed surprised and suggested I not go alone but I’m a big girl, a smart girl and the words of our favourite boy rang through my mind, “There are many people out there who will tell you that you can’t. What you’ve got to do is turn around and say… ‘Watch me’.”

I remember new things from The Masonic Temple show every day. A lot goes on in 3 hours… especially when this man has control over the situation.

Please feel free to ask me anything about this show, venue, or even just about my two days in Detroit (like my amazing hotel and the great people). I’d love sharing the experience.

Now!… Mucho magazine madness! I’m also feeling another “Dead Weather Wednesday” approaching.

I will be absent from this for a bit, guys because I’m going to see our boy and my plane leaves in the morning. I might pop in late at night to gush but we’ll see.

I will soccer chant my tail off for you in Detroit… how ‘bout that?
